Owners Conrad Ehlebracht and his wife, Helen Nielsen Ehlebracht, their sons, Tom and Tim, and Suzanne, Tim's wife, have owned and operated Nielsen's since it's opening in 1989.  Today, all but Conrad, who sadly passed away in 1992, work as hard as they did in 1989 to continue to improve upon this great family business.

Tim and Suzanne's two daughters, Brooke, 21 and Samantha, 16, work summers and weekends, and have grown up with the Bakery being a huge part of their lives.

After reading a survey done by the Village of Homewood, and asking residents what type of business they most desired to locate in the downtown area - the overwhelming answer...A BAKERY!  This is how our location was decided!

We chose a building in a depressed TIF district and purchased a vacant building. As history has it, this building was a thriving bakery in the 1930's and 1940's. The location was ideal.  After six months of construction of 3600 square feet, Nielsen's Bakery opened the doors on January 15th 1990.

Nielsen's is located at 2053 Ridge Road in Homewood Illinois, approximately 1 /4 block from the Homewood Metra and Amtrak Station.

We're open

Monday thru Friday:   5:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Saturday: 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Sunday:  7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
